Little girls want to be a lot of things including a princess or a pop star. They love their toys, their TV shows, and of course Disney movies.

Disney Princesses
Disney got smart and combined the power of all of their animated princesses of the years into one marketing endeavour and it's paying BIG. Offering toys and room decor that incorporate all of the mainstream princesses has led to huge sales. While every girl has her favorite Disney princess, there is still no doubt that ultimately every little girl wishes she were a princess too.

High School Musical
The phenomenal success of High School Musical was shocking to the entertainment world. Who knew a squeaky clean movie that includes song and dance numbers would prove a hit among the pre-teen crowd? That should've been obvious, but even Disney was surprised by the unprecedented success of this made for TV movie turned empire. Best of all, High School Musical and its sequal even appeal to the adults that watch with their kids.

Hannah Montana
The cutest little pop star to hit the scene has found super stardom with her fan base of girls. Her TV show has her in nearly every living room, her music on the MP3 players of the 15 and under crowd (and to be honest, some of the older ones love her too, they just hate to admit it), and he huge line of dolls, toys, clothes, etc. has made Hannah Montana a force to be reckoned with. A least she's a pretty good role model and her show promotes good values, so we can forgive the fact that her face is plastered on everything from cereal boxes to underwear.

Bratz
Like it or not, those ugly dolls with the huge heads, big lips, and skimpy wardrobe are a hit among little girls. I don't understand it, but it's true none the less.

American Girl
A surprising hit among little girls over the past couple of decades has been the American Girl book and doll series. Yes, they started with books! The books are about young girls during different periods of history. For example, Kirsten Larson is a Sweedish girl that immigrates to America with her family. Molly McIntire is growing up during the Second World War. Little girls learn what it was like to be a girl in years past, and they learn some history while they're at it.
